Family run business. The owner and son are extremely knowledgeable and accommodating with all of your plumbing needs. I have been going there since I was 8 with my dad. Prices are higher than the big box stores but the quality is top notch. I won't go anywhere else.

I'm not an HVAC repairman, I'm just a guy that maintains everything in my house and my 91 year old fathers house, because I'm capable of doing so. This review is only on their return policy or the lack of. I needed a nozzle for my fathers oil fired hot water heater. They did not have the exact one I needed, so he gave me one and said this is as close to yours that I can offer. It should be fine. Fast forward 4 days later, I find that i have a new correct nozzle in my box of spare parts I keep in my garage, so I don't need the nozzle I purchase here that is a different spray pattern, so I go to return it, and I'm told they don't except returns on nozzles. It's $15.00, not the end of the world, but I see it as 4 gallons of Home Heating Oil that I can use to heat my 91 year old fathers house who's water heater I'm maintaining. So, essentially that's who's money you kept because you don't except returns on nozzles that the package was never opened, that has a sticker over the package to assure it wasn't opened. I was told i couldn't even exchange it for a nozzle that I could use for his furnace. I wasn't told, or saw a sign anywhere that nozzles were a non-returnable item. If I was told upon time of sale that it's non refundable and knowing it wasn't the exact nozzle I was looking for, I probably wouldnt have purchased it and I would I would have got the correct one online. I'm not disparaging the guy who sold me the nozzle as he was a nice guy and helped me out, and took time to try to get me the right part. Just disappointed that I'm essentially throwing $15 in the garbage can.

My wife and I hired Allen’s Pluming/Seymour Propane to install our new boiler after our old one died on us. We decided to switch from oil burning to propane and they knew just what to do. Their team was polite, helpful, explained how everything worked, and even worked after hours to get us hot water again. We will definitely use them in the future and recommend to anyone. Thank you to John Allen, George, and Jim for your dedicated hard work! Thank you to Melissa for explaining everything and your communication.

If this review was just for the in store experience, it would be 100 stars bc I’ve never had a bad experience in there.

However, not all aspects of the company are the same. I had a leaking drain/waste pipe that I needed to have replaced. I called on a Friday, was transferred to the service department, they asked for pictures, gave me a quote range and set up an appointment for 10am on Monday. As I’m walking out of my house to bring my daughter to preschool Monday at 905, John was outside looking for me so he could go and view the pipe and give me the price for repair. Would have been nice to have been told that someone would be there at 9am, but ok. I then get a call at 1033am saying the cost will be $1,000 (keep in mind, this is AFTER they’d already come to look and knew what needed to be done) and I have to make payment now, before anyone comes out, which I do.

1044 the plumber arrived. Went down to the pipe with just a ladder and a sawsall. At 1106 he tells me (since I was at the house the entire time, and my home office is 20 feet from where he was working, so very easy to communicate) he has to go get more parts. Since he currently has zero parts, that made sense. None of the pipe sizes were a surprise, and I’ve had other speciality contractors come to the house, and they always have a WIDE variety of supplies they may need in their vehicle, but not this time. He came back at 1128 and does some stuff. Then at 1316 says he needs to go back and get more supplies (not sure what, and again why standard supplies aren’t kept in the truck. It’s not as if he came to replace a toilet and ended up having to replumb a kitchen sink instead. But ok). He returned at 1343.

The work was finished at 1451 (so 3 hours and 12 minutes of actual work. The fact that he doesn’t carry any actual equipment in his van should not be my responsibility to account for the additional 55 minutes). I sign that the job was complete on his phone (I assume that’s what I signed. I didn’t ask to read it and I definitely wasn’t offered a copy).

Tuesday afternoon I get a call saying I owed an additional $695. Never once was ANY additional money mentioned, I was told the total was $1,000, which I paid IN ADVANCE of ANY work being done, and I was not authorizing the additional charge. She offers to settle for $600 extra, which I also decline. Kept saying “he had to get extra parts” and “it took 4 hours and not the 2 we planned”. Well, no, it took 3 hours and 12 minutes. And the extra parts were literally the parts, that should have been in the truck from the beginning. We hang up. I get a call about 45 minutes later claiming she had printed the wrong invoice from a different house on my street (which has 18 total houses) and that my additional charge was only $150. Which I also refused. She just kept saying “you signed the estimate that said it would be between $750 and $1250” which I guess is what I signed. But, I also was told AFTER SOMEONE LOOKED AT THE PIPES IN PERSON that it would cost $1,000, which I paid. I didn’t ask for an itemized list of supplies and labor, I just agreed to the price. We went back and forth for several minutes and then she hung up on me, and I haven’t received any calls today.

However, I am still frustrated by the interaction. Not only is there plastic pieces from cutting ALL OVER my floor that wasn’t cleaned up (maybe I’ve just been lucky with all other workers, that they clean up anything they made a mess of), but there was no mention at any point that there would be additional charges, and certainly no mention while I was on the phone making the initial payment of what the job would cost (not just the quote) that it could cost more once work started. Because then I would’ve said no, let me get two more quotes then.

John so generously helped us with our plumbing needs. He knew exactly what parts we needed and took the time to get the parts for us, making sure each piece fit properly, and then demonstrated how to fit the pieces together and install them. Thank you so much, John! We appreciate you, your kindness, generosity, and your business!

A shout out to Julio in parts. He was patient with me as I asked a LOT of questions to makes sure I was getting the right part. He gave me good answers and kept doggedly searching for information despite the fact that what I needed was hard to get. I will definitely return to Allen's in the future. This is what customer service should feel like!
