This was my first time meeting with a holistic doctor. For years I have worked with many non holistic doctors for my mental health challenges. I have been diagnosed with bipolar 1, ADHD and have memory problems. Other doctors kept prescribing medication, which becomes overwhelming, especially because they change a lot. To get further assistance, I would often refer to Google. I became overwhelmed because I didn’t know what to trust. Working with her has helped me stay on my medication‘s without constant change. I have learned about environmental and product factors that affect my mental health. I now use products that I can’t trust especially vitamins. I've been working with Dr. Egeland for over 6 years now and have had such a great experience. I appreciate how detail oriented she is and the time she takes at each visit to make sure I have a full understanding of any lab results or questions about my care plan. She's helped me with multiple areas of my health, but balancing my hormones was a big part of why I wanted to work with her.

I started working with Dr. Egeland after about 8 years of debilitating gut issues. I felt like systemic medicine had completely failed me over and over again and I was convinced that no one would be able to help me. I was in such bad shape, I could barely eat and was so thin I had bones protruding. I was initially skeptical about taking the full leap into naturopathic medicine, but at the time I was so desperate, that I was willing to try anything. The intake questionnaire itself was the most thorough form I'd ever seen in medicine and took into consideration things I had never even thought about before. During the appointments, I actually feel seen and heard. The appointments are long and allow enough time to develop a relationship with the practitioner, go over details of patient history and symptoms, and work on a go-forward plan to get to the bottom of the illness and start treatments. Right away, I loved that I did not feel rushed during the appointments and we were able to cover so much ground. It was such a big difference from the 15 minutes I was given by previous practitioners and specialists.

The testing that Dr. Egeland was able to do was the first testing in 8 years that showed insight into what was going on with my health. Dr. Egeland started treatment with supplements and lifestyle changes right away and my health improved drastically. She had so many ideas and alternatives we could try when something wasn’t working. I especially appreciate all the alternative tips and tricks that she provides outside of the treatment itself. I feel like I’m really getting a full package of lifestyle, nutrition, and treatment counseling. I also really love the patient portal that allows me to ask questions that she responds to directly.

This type of medicine is expensive, but in my opinion, I received more than my money’s worth. The quality of life that I get to experience now is worth every cent.
