WOW SO HAPPY I FOUND THIS STORE

I had a shopping list and wasn't totally sure where to start but Lucy (the owner) was so kind, helpful! She took my list and made it better while keeping my budget in mind. I saw someone coming to pick up orders so if you're looking to skip Amazon or other big retailers and shop small I highly recommend.

I am surprised to see people's negative reviews, not my experience at all.

I will be going back for the shae butter Lucy brought back from Ghana for $8.

This wonderful beauty supply instantly became my favorite, my go-to for all things hair related, and the only place I recommend to every girl I know! From the amazing staff and owner, Lucy, who are always kind and supportive, eagerly offering their assistance and advice based on first hand experience (which is endlessly valuable considering most beauty supplies in LA are not black woman owned). A true treasure, it’s a joy whenever I need to stop in! Wouldn’t want to go to any other place, it’s rare to find a beauty supply that cultivates such a special community vibe!

I LOVED my experience at Braid Queen LA. They have such a wide array of types of braiding hair and colors. I feel like anything I looked for, I could have found in that store. I also got Boho braids from Lucy and my braids looks amazing!!! These are definitely the best braids I’ve gotten. And the experience was so enjoyable. The women in the shop are so friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend.

I came in for emergency bleach supplies and they had everything I needed! The cashier was super nice and knowledgeable about my hair situation. The prices are very fair and the shelves were organized and easy to browse. I'm so happy to have a beauty supply shop in walking distance of me! I will definitely be coming back for my future styling needs.

I was excited to support a black business and purchase some much needed hair products. From the moment I walked in, she was hostile. She mentioned my hair type numerous times as if to make me feel inferior for it. Very strange. If her hair was so great, why’s it covered with a cheap, straw-like wig? No eye contact when speaking. Came in excited, left wanting to slap something.

Had many brands of hair to choose from.... really great customer.. a bit small but fully stocked... I dropped my glass bottle in there.. I felt like a fool but the ladies were careful and understanding... definitely returning back.

I went into the store looking for one thing, lace adhesive. It’s a small and cluttered store, immediately upon entering the store. And today seemingly only one person was in the store, putting price stickers on inventory. I asked for some lace tape and the cashier/employee didn’t even look up to see if I needed anything. Very rude and short with her answers. Couldn’t bother to greet me upon entry nor did she even acknowledge my greeting. I had to ask if they had anything else in the store because simply put, I needed the product for an event tonight and I drove 20 minutes already to get there. We all have bad days but I will certainly give a review about it when you’re rude for absolutely no reason other than you clearly hate your job.

It’s funny how the owner says the employees said I was confrontational and not telling the truth. How about roll the tapes back? In two sentences, asking for YOUR ASSISTANCE, that was confrontational Every response to a bad review is “we’ll train the staff” but the staff hasn’t improved since the last bad review 6 months ago. But the customers are the problem right? Yeah just don’t shop here. There’s plenty of local black owned businesses that don’t treat customers this way.
