While both mine and my wife's care has been adequate, billing and clarity of charges has been woefully underwhelming. For identical procedures, on the first one we received a bill that was half of the one we received on the second procedure. The explanation we received was "Well, the first one had a mistake on it." no attempt to reconcile, only given the runaround. This is incredibly poor service as how are we supposed to be able to anticipate charges if we were never informed of a mistake? In the end, the difference is only a few hundred dollars and from a customer relationship standpoint, I feel there could have been a much better outcome. This certainly has tarnished our relationship with this group and we'd hesitate referring others here, especially if you have insurance issues (of which we do not, BCBS is our carrier).

Absolutely love this Derm office! Great staff, Chill office environment; excellent Doctors. Visited Dr. Mammino today for an excision - was very quick, painless and had great communication throughout. Highly recommend this practice for annual skin checks as well as specific dermatology needs. Great office!

I got an appointment at the end of August. I was a cash paying customer and told it would be about $140. They took 1 biopsy. On checkout I paid my bill and asked if there would be any other bills. I was told no because I was paying. About a month later I got a bill showing $1,000 charge that had been discounted down to $290. I tried to get clarification and I got threatened to be turned into collections. At the end of it they are wanting me to pay over $400. Stay away from this place they are crooked and deceiving.

I went to the my office visit with the intent to pay cash. I was told exam would be about 150 and if I need a biopsy it would be a little more depending on if a mole needed removed. When I was they I was told if I only need 1 mole removed the visit all together would be less then $200. I had an additional mole removed and asked on checkout I paid my bill and asked if there would be any additional charges and was told no I was all set. A month later I got a statement showing I was charged over $1000. I complained and asked about the additional charges. I was told since I was cash I shouldn’t owe anything. A month later I was threatened to be turned into collections. I calculated what my total payment was going to be and it was over $400. It took weeks for them to answer my questions. My advice is to be careful with this place they have hidden costs and fees and will lie to you to get you on the hook. Very disappointing how I was treated through the whole process and not communicating with me.

Well this is a good and a not so good review. As far as Dr Kaplan, I really did feel like she gave a lot of attention during my visits. It's also very conveniently located to not only my residents but so many neighborhoods nearby. The only negative thing that I will say however is that the system that they use for appointments and even billing is so automated that it doesn't leave any room for personalization or correcting of mistakes, it seems. For instance there is no email address or way to send the office a message unless you call. However if you call sometimes you get a different service answering the phone, which even the front desk person that I spoke with today in person told me about. So in my case, I was actually applying for a Front Desk position there since I live very close by and have all the experience and there was a mistake online with the program not accepting my resume properly after I submitted my application. In order to correct this I tried calling them and I don't know if they were out to lunch or if no one ever answered on the answering service, it was a while ago, but I was not able to reach them that way. So I went on the website to try to email them or fill out a contact form and there was none available. The only way to have them contacted at that time was to click the appointment button but before I did any sort of submission I saw that it had a large paragraph area that I could write in and explain why I would make it appointment or whatever I wanted to say. So I made sure in that space to say that I did not need an appointment but I was trying to contact someone right away because my resume didn't upload correctly in my application had already been submitted and it would not let me resubmit it. And I enunciated that I was not making an appointment that I just needed someone to please email or call me back so I could submit my resume. Well no one ever called me and I just assumed that perhaps they already hired someone or had enough applications and thought nothing more of it. But fast forward some weeks ahead and I received a bill for a no-show appointment! I immediately tried calling them and no one answered so I left a voicemail. No one ever called me back about the voicemail so I decided to go in person and ask about the bill. The lady there said that she would talk with her manager so I thanked her. Later that day the manager did call me and I explained again what had happened and she said well they don't really read those things that are put in that section when you make appointments. Of course as a patient I would never know that and I would expect them to have read it. And she said that it automatically billed me because the systems automated and then explain to me how they don't like no show appointments. I completely agree with her that someone not showing up to an appointment is inconsiderate and I told her that I've never not shown up for an appointment and that they could even check my past history. And I explained to her that I can't even make an appointment there any longer because they don't accept my insurance and that the reason was to submit my resume and get a hold of someone. She seems more intent on trying to lecture me about no shows then really understanding that I didn't do anything on purpose and that it is important to read what patients send their office. She said there is no way that she could correct this issue because it's automated but I told her that there is always a way that you can credit a patient or correct the bill. She was completely uninterested in either making this right or in owning up to the fact that they don't read what their patients send them online within the appointment area. The manager was also sarcastic in saying that I should have just brought my resume in person to them, however what she didn't realize is that I do not have a printer that I could print my resume on in order to do so, so it was a rather unhelpful and snarky suggestion as well as a deflection of taking responsibility for not reading what I sent to them.
