Let me tell you from an honest standpoint. If you don't visibly look very Hispanic or only exclusively speak Spanish, your experience here may vary.

Cashiers have always been nice
But the cooks a whole different story. They always gossip and give you a stare when you ask them to make you your food. You have charm your way to get good service in the kitchen. Granted the food is AMAZING. But you really have to put up with the service being questionable at best.

Ill continue coming here for possibly the best tamales en hoja and great meat at the best prices around. But eating here has become a hassle.

Many negative Google reviews for this place are true. We ordered a fried fish, a burrito, some tacos, and a quesadilla. First of all, the cashier charged us $1 to $2 dollars extra over the menu on every single item we ordered. She just kept apologizing without giving a valid reason. Do they charge a tax for non-Mexican customers? Everyone worked in the kitchen seemed extremely grumpy. The food and condition of the place definitely make you question how clean and fresh everything is. In the end, the food we got all tasted good, which is why the 2 stars, but I highly recommend others to avoid this place in the future.

Very rude cooks, with bad customer service skills. The food is great, the only thing that needs working on the the 3 lady's that work in the kitchen and need to be nicer or something needs to change because if you are not a 40 year old Hispanic man then Goodluck getting good service. Plus from my experience they are rude to non spanish speaking people and it's only in the kitchen where the problems are. I hope it gets better because, the food is amazing.

Absolutely unreal gem of a place. You can’t go wrong with any of the food here. Most authentic Mexican I have had in a very long time. Had the chorizo, carne, and Barbacoa tacos and they were all so good, I ordered the pupupas as a not so light snack because it was that good. Coming back to Colorado just to eat here.

White person here...
Very rude staff and I was overcharged 2 dollars for a burrito.
Also. The health department needs to pay this place a visit. Overall my time in Carbondale has been awful! Rude entitled people all over the place. Avoid this entire town and it's people. 👎👎👎👎

I'm from Mexico, so when I walked into this place I was excited about the prospect of finally finding quality authentic Mexican food. Unfortunately, I was greatly disappointed… The barbacoa they are selling as "barbacoa" is not barbacoa, it's simply shredded beef… Any Mexican can tell the difference with the first bite. Secondly, the menudo had a very off-putting smell to it, an off-smell that I've never smelled before, and it smelled like some sort of fragrance or soap or perfume or some weird freeze-dried herb that does not belong in menudo, and it made for a very weird experience while eating the whole bowl of it, it mostly tasted right so it was mostly enjoyable but there was that weird smell and taste that was lingering that made it weird and unsettling overall. my body is used to third-world country cooking because I've traveled the world to many very remote areas including all throughout Mexico, and my body knows quickly whether or not the food was stored and prepared properly without health concern, but in this case, it was very clear that something was definitely WRONG with this food because I had to rush to the restroom about an hour and a half later in an explosive way which is extremely uncommon for me, very rarely do I have a reaction like that to food, and when I do, that means there was something TERRIBLY BAD about the food, and that same weird off-smell that emanated from the bowl while eating the menudo is exactly what I smelled when that awful food left my body, and it was an experience that I never wish to have again -- I nearly threw up in response to the reoccurence of that WEIRD smell once again.. I will never go into this Mexican grocery store/meat market ever again; something is not right about the place.. not to mention the prices are ridiculous, I have never in my life paid that much money for this type of food, and never have I had this type of food make me so sick after the hundreds of thousands of times I've eaten this type of food throughout my entire life living in Mexico and on the Mexican border. if you want real Mexican food, go to Los Cazadores in El Jabel or the Mexican kitchen at the convenience store in Old Snowmass -- those are the only two Mexican restaurants in the entire Roaring Fork Valley that are actually authentic along with quality ingredients that will not get you sick. Everything is advertised accurately unlike Garcia's, the food quality is excellent so it won't get you sick like Garcia's, and very importantly, the prices are fair and appropriate for this style of food which tells you a lot about the owner. The owners actually care at these two restaurants; whereas, it's clear that the owner of Garcia's is trying to rip people off and sell them low quality food in effort to maximize their profit. Completely unacceptable, I am very offended by Garcia's Carneceria/Taqueria, and I will NEVER enter that stinky establishment again.

Please Note: i've heard great things about the food trailer parked at the Katherine convenience store/gas station, and I've also heard good things about Cholas… But I have not tried either yet. However, once I do, I will certainly be writing reviews about them, and I sincerely hope my reviews for those two establishments will be positive unlike this one for Garcia's.

True Mexican food with all the fun parts of meat in the menu, it's not watered down for anyone and isn't Tex Mex. Good prices and portions, and some of the best I've had.
