They are sadly understaffed, but it's a great pharmacy- it's Bar Harbor where life is a little slower, a little nicer pace so be kind to these people- they work very hard. The lead pharmacist is wonderful if you are patient and kind. Plan ahead for your needs- great people.

I am astonished after reading the 1-star reviews over the last year. Please read other reviews in the last 12 months. My daughter is in college in another state and working in Bar Harbor for the summer. She has had a similar experience as others with the Hannaford pharmacist. The pharmacist would not fill her prescription and was not nice to my daughter. This experience was very upsetting to her. I suppose it was a good life lesson for her. The pharmacist and team need to be reviewed for unethical behavior. If others were to submit a complaint to the appropriate authorities or regulatory bodies, I can provide specific details of my daughter's experience, such as the date, time, and the name of the pharmacist involved. Everyone that I’ve spoken to that works here is nice, however, this is a very inconvenient pharmacy. I have a monthly prescription, but each time I have the script sent over to be filled, it’s like some kind of big surprise. The medication is almost never in stock (even when I call a week before my prescription will be filled to make sure that it will be ordered in time), and I often wait several days for the med to be ordered once the script is sent for it to be filled. I have even been told that they had the medication in stock prior to receiving my script, only for the pharmacist to send it back to “reduce clutter on the shelves.” It’s not abnormal for me to go without my medication due to this delay, even though I am supposed to take it daily. The only reason I have stayed with Hannaford as my pharmacy is due to the limited options of pharmacies available locally. As I said, the people that work there are nice...but as far as a pharmacy functioning as a pharmacy goes, it’s extremely disappointing and highly inconvenient.

They are constantly having issues with their “system”. Multiple times I have had to wait for them to “find” scripts that were called in then had to wait hours for it to get filled. When they can’t fill a prescription it has taken multiple attempts and phone calls for them to transfer the prescription and on multiple occasions they have had issues with my insurance causing me to pay out of pocket just to be done with the whole transaction. I have never had a successful attempt at filling a prescription here and will not be trying again.

this pharmacy is a joke.
While in town our little one got sick. Doctor prescribed basic antibiotics and sent to this pharmacy. That was in the am. We went to pharmacy right away and was told that prescriptions can’t be filled until 5-7pm. Keep in mind it was Friday and pharmacy closed on Saturday and Sunday.
When we came back in the evening. We were told that one of the meds is out of stock and won’t be available until Tuesday. If we were told that in the morning we could have found another pharmacy and asked doctor to send prescription there instead we were left high and dry with sick child on hands and no meds.
It seems that staff simply does not care and/or unprofessional.

Ps. The reason I decided to write this review because I just got a call that prescription is ready for pick up (6 days later). As I said, this pharmacy is a joke.

Very helpful in the pharmacy when I needed a medication while visiting my daughter from out of town.
Also once I had gotten some produce that when I cut it open it was not good and they not only gave me my money back but they doubled the refund amount. Who does that?

They did a partial fill of my prescription as they didn’t have enough to fill completely- without my knowing or asking them to do that. So now I have 14 pills for the month and pharmacy regulations mean that I can’t get more for 30 days. Yay.

Went in to pick up a covid related prescription for my wife and was told that our doctor had not sent anything in. Called the doctors office and they confirmed that they had called it in almost 5 hours earlier. Called Hannaford back and they said that they didn't have the prescription on hand so they transferred it to Walgreens. So basically the girl at the counter lied outright to me. Would have been nice if Hannaford had let us know the prescription had been transferred. Extremely disappointed.
