I hate to have to write this review, as I am usually not someone who would do this but I genuinely feel like I need to warn people.

I've been getting Brazillian waxes (roughly) every month for over two years, this time around it had been 2.5 months since my last. A fair amount of growth but nothing crazy and not the worst it's ever been. I've been to many establishments between Roseville and San Diego (including a nail salon that doesn't specialize in waxing) and this is by far the worst experience I've ever had. Johnna is a nice woman but her technique was quite frankly appalling.

1) Not pulling the skin taunt, then asking me to pull on my own skin and saying that if I just do this it will hurt less. I have never had a waxer ask me to do this, as they're usually trained on how to do it and do it well.
2) Using incredibly large strips/sections at a time, rushing through, instead of going section by section as I am used to from other waxers. Keep in mind different areas need to be pulled from different directions/angles so you can't just put down one large "square" and rip it up without it being incredibly painful.
3) Not pulling the strips at the correct angle (against the direction of growth) and instead pulling straight up, with the direction of growth, or some other angle. Quite SLOWLY because she didn't know how to handle the large strips. Then blaming my hair for being the problem when she is the only one (out of 9) I've ever had this experience with.

I could go on but these are just a few. If you've never had a wax before and don't really care about pain or proper technique then definitely book with her! But you may never want another wax again. If you have certain standards you're used to I'd look elsewhere. I'm used to chatting with my waxer all the way through because it's never hurt too bad but there were times here when I could barely catch my breath and couldn't stop myself from crying. I take pride in my pain tolerance and this had me on my a**, tears all the way home.

This was a gift certificate I got for Christmas since I was looking for a new waxer and was excited to give it a shot but I will not be returning, it was traumatizing. I would've left halfway through but I'm a broke nursing student who doesn't know what to do in these situations.

You can tell this is just a side gig for her and only really cares about the income opportunity because it shows in her work and as she was trying to sell me packages while I was crying and barely holding myself together.

I scheduled a wax the day I was leaving for a trip. We agreed on a morning appointment a week before I left. The owner cancelled on me less than 12 hours before and texted me after 10pm to do so. I understand things come up but reading the texts, it only seemed she was apologetic about texting me late instead of flaking. I want to share my experience because if you need someone reliable, this may not be the best choice. Local salon prices are similar and will make their appointments. I ended up scheduling with a chain salon the next morning and they were reliable.
