Scam!!! Be aware. Their toy vending machine thingy is rigged. See the video. Even when you grab a thing, it drops before it gets to the dispensing hole. Tried 10 dollars worth (10time) just wanted to make sure. I was able to grab it the whole 10 times but it drops before it gets to you the whole 10 times. People who worked there didn’t do anything about it. Do not waste your money on them.

Been experiencing constant racial profiling with this store, despite heading to the cashier to make a purchase. The staff has a habit of following around Hispanics. I noticed they don’t do this with Caucasian & Asian customers. They even treat them better at the cashier & even greet them too when entering the store. One of my family members is fluent in Japanese & overheard the staff gossiping in Japanese behind our backs, saying rude & discriminatory comments while laughing. Plus the items they have are exaggeratedly overpriced. BigBadToyStore has these same items in the original Japanese retail price for way less! Also don’t bother visiting the other shop “Tokyo Japanese Lifestyle”, it’s the exact same situation. They also racially profile Hispanics in their store & gossip in Japanese behind your back.

The store is a total rip-off, save your time and look elsewhere. Their items are extremely overpriced compared to official retailers. I purchased a sunscreen and after I got home, I was shocked to learn it retails for $30 when they charged me $55.99. I also cannot verify the authenticity of their products or where they get their products from. I don't believe a store like this can get any 5-star reviews, the 5-star reviewers must be paid or they just don't know there are better ways to get Asian cosmetics.

Previously, I have had positive experiences at this store. However, this most recent visit (12/28 @ 6:30pm), the employee I encountered followed me through the store, kept watching me, and profiled me (which I can conclude as I was the only Black customer in the shop) even though there were multiple other customers present. Because of this, I would recommend buying your cosmetics and other products from elsewhere.

The employees here are incredibly nice! I live close by and I love being able to purchase my SKII items without having to go to Sephora, which is not located around Sawtelle, or purchase online, and the SKII prices seem to be the same as Sephora and the SKII website. They have tons of other makeup lines both American and Asian, and I plan to go back for more!

I wish I could give 0 Stars. Beware of this rip off store.
My 60 year old mother went there and got ripped off badly. They sold her a REFA Carat for $320.00 when she came home to show us we searched online and found the same devise for $100.00.
She went back to the store the very next morning (less than 18 hours after sell) and was rudely greeted. She was told that there are no returns or exchanges (which no one mentioned the day before) She begged for them to take it back as she does not have the money to waste, but was just ignored.
My mother called me crying from the store and asked me for my help to talk to them. I called and asked for the owner and was told she wasn't there and I could not have the name. I said I wanted the name so I could call back for her but she said she wasn't allowed to give out the owners name and hung up.
How could you treat an elderly woman this way? Especially around Christmas time?
My mother is absolutely horrified and feels taken advantage of.

I don't get the review about the $300.00 appliance. If she doesn't have money to waste aka can't afford a $300.00 appliance then why did she buy it? It seems she could afford it fine until she found it for cheaper online. No returns is common in Japanese stores as there are no return policies in most shops in Japan, and it is clearly written at the counter. Plus, 'I want to return this item because I found it cheaper elsewhere' isn't a good reason to return....at least if it was broken that would be a good sob story but of course buying Japanese things in America is 3 times the price as buying it in Japan or online from Japan. Import, shipping....all these things are expensive. If you don't want to pay premium then buy on Rakuten but the store did not 'rob' anyone- they sell an item for a price and your mom bought it at that price. If she did not want to spend that price for that item, she didn't have to, and she could have researched cheaper options online beforehand.
