This place is phenomenal. The most beautiful hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. When I opened the door my jaw hit the floor!

First let me start with the lady at the front desk was so kind and helpful. We were traveling with our dog and booked their only pet-friendly room. When we arrived we were told there was an issue with the room we booked and even though we had our dog with us she upgraded us to another room at no additional charge.

And this room was amazing! So clean, so well decorated. We had a view of Mt. Shasta, a fireplace, and a jacuzzi tub. Who ever renovated this hotel has an incredible eye. We’d love to return and stay in their other rooms cause they are all unique!

They also have nugget ice and hot chocolate in the lounge area, along with a coffee shop, a cafe, and boutiques in the same building under the rooms (all worth checking out).

Thanks so much for a wonderful experience!

Stayed over the Christmas holidays a few years ago. Got one of the nicer rooms - it was big, had a claw foot tub in the room. But the mattress on the bed was the cheapest, oldest mattress I have ever slept on. I’m not talking about mattress preference re hard or soft, I’m talking lumpy, uneven surface and, in places, the springs from the mattress were broken. I would be embarrassed to have a guest stay at my house and sleep on such an old, dilapidated mattress. It’s unfathomable that a hotel thinks that this is acceptable.

Stayed here last night. What a neat old place! Tons of character. An old timey candy shop near the check in. And we had breakfast at a neat diner at the other end of the building in the morning.

Pretty damn magical, with rustic charm, rooms full of antiques and ample porch space to sit and drink a beer in the dark at 11pm. Somehow, also very reasonably priced and conveniently located in the same building as most of the shops in town. This place will have you browsing Zillow for local real estate as soon as you've got your room keys.

We stayed at the McCloud Mercantile Hotel for our anniversary this past weekend in the Shasta Wintu room. It was SO romantic and absolutely exceeded our expectations. The building has been restored and up kept beautifully and the room was very clean and the atmosphere cozy. We almost never sleep well our first night away from home and both of us got a great nights sleep the first night. Truly a gem of a place to stay. The breakfast credit toward either of the breakfast places downstairs was wonderful and both breakfasts were delicious. We won’t stay anywhere else if we visit Shasta again. I look forward to checking out the other rooms! 5 stars!

Where to start!! This gem was one of the best parts of our 3 week trip! Road closures forced us to quickly find a hotel and we were lucky to get one of the last rooms in town! Boy did we luck out! Spotless is the first thing I noticed. The warm, friendly welcome of the owner and her staff was so wonderful! The place is like a museum…a gorgeous ,meticulously kept up, heritage building. Our room was massive with all the comforts guests would need! The bed was oh so comfortable with high quality bedding! The soaker claw foot tub for 2 was a needed bonus! Then there was a massive shower with two shower heads!! Wifi was strong, water was excellent pressure and plenty of hot water! But wait there is more… a kitchen for guests to use with teas coffee hot chocolate microwave and fridge and ice maker. There is also a large living room area with an toasty wood fireplace going and games to play!
And then to our surprise the price was totally reasonable with a 24 $ credit to the 2 restaurants they have on site! We had an amazing breakfast at their restaurant!! For dinner we ate at the Axe and Rose it was fantastic food and drinks and service were great!! This cute little town is worth the visit! I just wish we had more time to explore and stay with these lovely people!!
