Title: Refused to Honor Valid Groupon, Demanded Extra Fees

My mother-in-law and I were returning clients who attempted to use our valid, unexpired Groupon vouchers at Prophecy Clinic on 05/23/2025.

I made sure when I scheduled the appointment that to let them know this was a Groupon voucher and it was not an issue. They texted to confirm, everything was good to go.

To our complete surprise, the staff refused to honor our vouchers. They claimed the deal was for "first-time clients only" and that we would need to pay an additional $150 per person to receive the service we had already paid for.
This "first-time client" restriction is stated NOWHERE in the Groupon's terms, fine print, or conditions. I have a screenshot of the official voucher policy to prove this. Even after we pointed this out, the clinic staff held firm and denied us the service.

This is an unacceptable and dishonest business practice. Businesses should not be allowed to invent new rules to avoid honoring a paid deal. It feels like a bait-and-switch.

We are incredibly disappointed and will be filing for a full refund through Groupon and reporting this to consumer protection agencies. Future customers, please be aware that the terms of your purchase may not be honored here.

Update - I’m out $80, one voucher was sent as a gift I can’t get a refund on that. Also learned a huge lesson: When a company changes their name to avoid any BBB review look ups , don’t give that a second glance - AVOID!

I am writing in response to your statement. While I understand you are phasing out your use of Groupon, the voucher I purchased was a Christmas gift we had saved. The terms of that specific offer, as presented at the time of purchase, are what matter. There was no mention of a 'first-time client' restriction in the fine print of the Groupon deal itself. Introducing this rule on the day of our appointment is a deceptive business practice.

Your claim of this being an 'industry standard' does not absolve you of the responsibility to honor the deal you advertised. The onus was on your business to ensure all advertised promotions were accurate at the time of sale. We will be continuing to seek a full refund
