I cannot speak on everyone at this salon but if you go here DO NOT schedule with Becky. Especially if you are not used to a salon environment. I feel like Becky took advantage of me since I was open about this being my first time in a salon and over charged me. I just wanted highlights and showed her pictures and she said she would do it for me. She did not give me as many highlights as there were in the reference pictures and sent me home with wet hair so I could not see what work she had done. Once I got home and my hair finally dried I messaged her saying that it seemed like she only did half of what I asked and she told me she wasn't able to do what I asked in the time she had with me. She never told me she wouldn't be able to do what I asked in the time I had with her. I didn't request a certain amount of time I was willing to be in the salon as long as it took for her to get the job done. She was also half an hour late for my consolation and told me she left because she thought I wasn't coming. I was 5 mins early for the consolation. Over text she told me that she didn't do what I asked in her time with me because she has "clients paying for her expertise." Am I not a paying client When I asked if I could go back and get a few more highlights since she did give me what I asked, she accused me of asking for free stuff. I WOULD NOT have paid as much as I did if I knew she would only do half of the job and then ask me for more money when I asked if she could fix it. Not sure if this was her intention but I feel like I got ripped off because she knew this was my first time getting my hair done and thought she could get away with doing less than I asked and charging me the same. Over text she also told me "it's just hair" and "Rome wasn't built in a day." I didn't know I was asking for Rome nor did she tell me what I asked for wasn't possible in the time SHE ALLOTTED ME. I tried talking to her about being late and basically ripping me off and she just stopped responding to me and ignored me. Unprofessional and rude.

Shade Salon is GREAT! They did hair and makeup for Bride, 7 Bridesmaids, and Mother of Bride. They are easy to work with and listen to what you want. They are great!

I have been having my hair done at Shade since I moved to Carbondale in 2019. Kerri was a skilled colorist and I was sad to see her go, as every good stylist I’ve ever had moves away. However, in this case it has worked out because I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Mahala. I am almost hesitant to write a review because it’s so impossible to find a good stylist, but she deserves so much praise. My biggest factor when choosing a salon, besides skill or experience, is someone that is easygoing and can make conversation. Mahala is so warm and friendly- I feel like I have known her for years. A good stylist feels like an instant friend. Not only that, but she listened to me and gave me exactly the cut I wanted. I’ll be going back to Shade for all of my future haircuts, and hopefully some color as well. The vibe of this Salon is laid back, and it’s incredibly conveniently located as well.

Not great.. got color but it was way to dark.. I got dye and gave a description of the color however the color was way too dark to what I wanted, they also got the dye all over my my face and neck. The dye had stayed and stained for at least a week.

We are so thankful for Amanda and team agreeing to do my wedding hair, 3 bridesmaids, moms, flower girl, and officiant! From the hair trail, to additional services (make-up & spray tan from Amy Face Place) our entire experience was amazing. The quality of hair and attention to detail are sincerely appreciated. My entire wedding party felt beautiful and I cannot thank you enough!

From bad to the worst! Will preface this saying I hate disparaging seemingly nice people running an honest business... I did not like my initial haircut I got here. It was a major red flag when the stylist did not even want to wash my hair until I offered to pay her higher price for thick hair. Never in my life have I gotten a completely dry haircut, she made it seem like it was a waste of her time because my hair is so thick she didn't want to deal with it. At the end of my first haircut, I was just really disappointed, it was just not good. I eventually decided I didn't want to deal with it until it grew out and called the owner. They rescheduled me for a follow up appointment to try to fix it. I brought photos, hoping it would be very clear what I wanted. I now have a complete hacked up haircut. I showed my husband when I got home and he was astonished, it's all different lengths! It's awful! So so so so bad. I'm so disappointed, just miserable whenever I look at myself in the mirror. Can't even put it in a ponytail it looks so bad still when up.
