The founding doctors provide great care, I was happy with medical care and had laser hair removal with great results. Customer service is less so. Last time I went there the provider, upon leaving my exam room, yelled out to a colleague why I was there (which was a medical reason). It was very unprofessional and embarrassing, esp given my exam room was next to waiting room. I politely asked to not be charged my copay, more as an apology from the circumstances, and the business manager didn’t get back to me. I decided to find a new place that offers more privacy and balances clinical to med spa feel.

Bottom line: Dr Smith is great (5 stars) but so are other dermatologists. If you like remote/private office and okay with inconsistent staff experience then it may work for you. The other doctors/providers I’ve seen I’d give a 1 star for care, competency and attitude, and strongly recommend to pass.

What a refreshing difference it was to switch from one dermatologist i’ve been going to, to Dr. Suzanne Westphal… The former said he couldn’t see me for my annual check up for three months! I had a spot on my face that I thought needed attending to and I was able to make an appointment at SMD within a WEEK—as did my husband, who also had an issue. Dr. W was thorough and kind and calming, given that looking for skin cancers (I’ve had a few) can be very fraught. Whatever the outcome of the checkup, I feel confident that I’m now in the right hands. The staff, also was incredibly helpful in the registration process. Overall, I can report it was (an amazingly) good experience.

I recently visited SMD for my Botox, and had a great experience with what it means to get a truly perfect result from the skilled and knowledgeable Dr. Ashley Smith.
From the moment I walked in, the calming ambiance and friendly staff made me feel welcomed and stress free.
I knew I was in good hands and I trusted her to address the issue of a droopy eye lid, which happened quite a few times with other injectors. Within about 10 days the results were amazing - no dropping of the eye lids, nice and even eye brows, and smooth forehead.
I’ll be definitely coming back for my Botox, and will try their facials too.

I have been seeing Dr. Suzanne Westphal for the last 10 years and I am so grateful for her expertise. She is incredibly attentive and always takes the time to explain every part of my treatment. I never feel rushed during my visits. She has found multiple pre cancerous issues on my face and has been very proactive in treatments.
I would highly recommend the Blue Light Therapy.
The office staff is friendly and efficient, and I always feel comfortable coming here.

I have been a patient of Dr. Smith for seven years. We used to live in Marin and moved four years ago to the East Bay and I now drive over an hour each way to see her because she is simply the best! I come from a family of doctors so I am very particular about who I see and she is top notch with both general dermatology and cosmetic procedures. I highly recommend her, and once you go once, you won't leave. Several of my friends are now her patients and they say the exact same thing. On top of her superb skills, she is so warm, and caring; and her staff is as well.
