What a wonderful place The Stanford Inn is! We have been dreaming about coming here with our dogs for a long time and are thrilled to have finally made it a few years ago. So beautiful, inviting, serene, comfortable and friendly. It just makes you feel good and recharged staying for a few nights and wanting to come back. The surrounding nature is simply stunning - all you need to do is walk around, or drive any direction to be in the midst of the mountains of Redwoods, pine trees, eucalyptus groves and the rugged majestic cliffs of the Pacific ocean. The food at the restaurant is tasty and healthy - and you can rest assured about the quality of the ingredients. Most importantly, our dogs get so excited every single trip and they know as soon as we take a turn towards this place. And they search for their dried sweet potato treats as soon as they trot into the room.

Do NOT miss this gem!
I do not know where to start! The pool and spa are like entering a rainforest with plants galore and warm moist air despite it being winter when we visited. Complimentary daily tea time with plant-based sandwiches and a delicious sweet was a highlight for us. Dogs are welcome and clearly loved by all with a care package awaiting them when you arrive. We stayed over by the donkeys and llamas who are all very sweet. We loved saying hi to them on our walks to the main lodge. The caretakers even gave us "cookies" we could feed to them. The cottage was silent with extremely comfortable beds and so much space - living area and kitchen included. We went for a canoe ride and a bicycle ride, both of which are dog friendly and beautiful. Great bird watching and you can see the seals as you canoe. The folks at the Canoe and Bike rental are so knowledgeable and they make sure you have the best and safest outing possible taking into account tides and currents and traffic for bikes. Lastly, the environmental theme is present everywhere you look including plant based foods and no plastic cups or containers. We cannot wait to go back!

This is a paradise for vegans. The resort restaurant serves whole food that is vegan, and promotes healthy eating. There is a great collection of books in the lobby. The stay was pleasant and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The views are great. There are rescue animals in the barn that you can meet. Three cats on premises that are so cute! I met Jeff Stanford, and he and his staff were very welcoming. I personally love the pool, which is inside a greenhouse. Definitely recommend this place!

We stayed several nights and loved everything about our stay! The staff was super helpful and friendly, the grounds were beautiful, and the restaurant was amazing. We had a very large deck off our room to enjoy the view. The view from the restaurant (Ravens) is also lovely.||Being around animals always puts a smile on my face so we loved seeing other guests with their dogs (we're from Colorado so not an option for us), visiting the donkeys and llamas, and I especially enjoyed some snuggle time with one of the inn cats, Lady Gray. You can walk over to Catch A Canoe. We rented a 2-person outrigger canoe and saw several harbor seals. They were so helpful and gave us lots of good tips and info. ||I'm vegan and loved everything we tried at the restaurant. It was so nice to be able to order anything off the menu! At breakfast, my favorite was the herbed polenta. At dinner I had the Kalua Mushroom & Coconut Rice; it was delicious.||The sitting area in the lobby is a calm and relaxing spot to just hang out for a bit. There's a fireplace and lots of interesting books to look at. They also sell a nice selection of wines. ||So, highly recommend and we hope to be able to come back again some time. Thanks to the Stanford Inn for such a wonderful experience!

My wife, our dog, and I had the pleasure of spending our honeymoon at Stanford Inn in Mendocino for a week, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The resort boasts stunning views and a serene atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease. We are vegans and we dined exclusively at their vegan restaurant, and each meal was not only delicious but also very healthy.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, adding a warm touch to our visit. What impressed us most was the attention to detail in everything—demonstrating the inn’s commitment to sustainability and quality. It’s clear that the team at Stanford Inn is passionate about what they do. We had such a lovely time and can’t wait to return next year!

Everything was a dream come true. From the stunning landscape, to the extremely well cared for animals, to the tropical style pool and hot tub, everything is absolutely jaw dropping, loved and nurtured to utopian perfection. Thank you for having us, including our dogs which were so welcome. We felt right at home. I must say though, the most heart wrenching con was the quality of cook on the beautiful ingredients they provide. Needing a better cooking staff to see a better turn out to your restaurant. We had to go in town to a non-vegan establishment to get much better vegan food. We skipped free breakfast and avoided the restaurant after the first night. The cocktails and service was incredible otherwise. Everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming. The cooking staff is just not doing this place the justice it deserves, so I would urge visiting Fabrik, Astera or Feral for a new perspective on the possibilities of making vegan food delicious with the level of high quality ingredients they are growing.

Stanford Inn was a magical and amazing experience! Nestled in the woods off the river, the property is absolutely stunning with plenty of gardens, rescue animals, and paths to stroll.

Everything from the food to the greenhouse pool spa is setup to provide a unique experience.

We signed up for a couple classes (breathwork, cooking class, mushroom hunting) and all were great. Sid was an awesome teacher and the whole staff is excellent!

Will be coming back again!

The Stanford Inn in Mendocino is a wonderful get a way. It is in a beautiful location near beaches, trails and the town of Mendocino. The Inn sits on a lovely piece of land on a hill with a view of the ocean. There is an indoor pool and sauna as well as lovely gardens to explore. The rooms are very well appointed, comfortable and charming, supplying one with what you would expect from a nice hotel. You can even rent bikes and canoes or kayaks to explore the beautiful river next to the Inn. The best part of our stay at the Stanford Inn is their restaurant called “The Ravens”. It is a gourmet plant-based restaurant, which serves breakfast and dinner. Whether you are a plant-based eater or not you will surely enjoy the food and the beautiful presentation.
The owners of the Inn and staff are so hospitable, kind and considerate. They have thought of everything. The atmosphere is relaxing, with a sustainable approach to what they do.
We have enjoyed our many stays there over the last 30+ years!
