Review is based on my booking experience and for the massage session my husband received. I was so shocked to hear about his experience as they have such high ratings on google!
We received a very sweet gift from our friends from out of state to try The Spa Simply Skin. This was gifted to us in May of 2023!
First off, Itās so very difficult to make an appt online. We both work full time 8-5 and there simply arenāt many evening appointments available online M-F. Weekends are limited as well on availability. I did call a couple of months ago to see if couple massages or 2 at the same time were available and they referred us to book online as they tend to ābook up and have limited availabilityā. The person that answer was really nice but seemed distracted. She said that I could try checking for cancellations as well as the site has the most up to date availability.
Fast forward to this week! I saw there was a 5:15pm appt (only one avail through August) avail for today (must have been a cancellation or last minute adjustment), I booked it for my husband a 60 min hot stone massage. I was not able to go since there was only a 1:30 slot avail and not another at his time slot. Nevertheless I was excited for him as he likes a good deep pressure massage with hot stones to relax afterwards. We were sent a few text messages to confirm and answer questions on pressure, medical conditions, etc. we shared we wanted firm deep pressure.
Upon arrival, it looked like a converted office building as seen in pics. No one was at the front so he waited for a few mins. When they came out, they asked him if he was picking up somethingā¦lolā¦um no I have an appt. No introductions, just took him to the waiting area behind the screen walls.
He was then taken into a room (on the right) and he said decor was ok. He was asked what areas does he want her to focus on, he shared lower back. Assuming she read the submissions we submitted on the questionnaire, he proceeded with his session. Throughout the āvery gentleā massage, the therapist did not once check on how her pressure was at all.
Similar to another Yelp review posted, he was applied lots of oil and lotion but no pressure of any sort was provided. The only thing that was descent of the session was the hot stones moving around. She lifted his arm up and down but didnāt massage or stretch his arm out at all. It was $125 massage session with no massage and lots of lotion and oil and some heated stones to move around. š³
The other mention he shared was that the massage bed/table has a defect with the headrest. The headrest popped down (2x) quite loudly, so his head was in an awkward position for half the session and the therapist didnāt say anything at all. She kept rolling her hands in a stop and go motion. Canāt tell if the place where you put your face was worn out or what but he felt the metal framing with no cushion at all making it uncomfortable.
My husband isnāt confrontational in anyway when it comes to these kind of things. The therapist asked at the end how it was and he said it was good (facepalm). I asked him why he didnāt say anything and he said he didnāt want to make her feel bad and just wanted to leave. And with all that, yes he still tipped.
When he came back, I excitedly asked how it was and he said he never wants to return ⦠ever. Itās just not his kind of massage place that he would want to go back to. There was no pressure and the therapist didnāt relieve any knots or help massage his lower back in anyway.
Maybe evening appts are at the end of the day is just not their thing?!? I still have my massage gift to bookā¦eeeeekkkk! Maybe Iāll try a different therapist and see if itās better!
Welp, Iāll keep everyone posted if I get an appointment in!
2 stars for hot stones working, and parking ease.
