I like to wait to tell my girlfriends or write a review until I know a product/service is actually working, and that being said Iā€™ve gone to the Mountain View Skin Laundry location for three months and Iā€™m really starting to see a glow and change in my skin texture! The manager Crystal has made things very clear and easy when it comes to understanding the memberships, which I currently subscribe. and one thing I really appreciate is the timeliness of appointments; knowing Crystal runs things on time helps me actually plan my appointments perfectly and get on with my day. I have mainly used Skyler for various treatments, and he is just wonderful, too....very informed, educated, happy and helpful and does not waste time. The space itself is immaculately clean and calming, and I got two friends gift certificates to this location for Christmas!

This place is amazing. I have been a client since June 2024 and I'm seeing result on face -- less pigmentation and smoother texture. I wear less foundation than six months ago. Skyler Lee was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend SL if you need to resolve your skin issues.

I've been going to Skin Laundry for about a year, first at the Campbell location, then at the Mountain View location which itā€™s a bit closer to where I live. Management at the Mountain View location is a disaster. There's constant turnover with the admin staff, which was bad enoughā€”until the latest manager, Carly, took it to a whole new level. Since she arrived, the place constantly reeks of food, and the bathroom is disgusting. It looks third-world in there.

That said, I come for the treatments. The nurses are great, so I try to ignore the administrative chaos. I have the $250 Founder Membership, which guarantees treatments every 7 days. But since Carly took over, sheā€™s been aggressively pushing to change the interval to 10 days, citing a "new corporate policy based on scientific evidence." When I asked for proof, she had none.

Today, after my treatment, she doubled down on the 10-day rule. I reminded her that my contract explicitly allows for 7-day treatments and that contracts are legally binding. She acknowledged the risk of enforcement. An hour later, I got a passive-aggressive voicemail (transcript below) and a mysteriously canceled appointment she had just booked. LOL.

Voicemail transcript from Carly:

- "Hi, this is Carly from Skin Laundry Mountain View. I'm calling to clarify the change from 7-day to 10-day intervals. You're correct that your contract is legally binding, and technically, you can still come every 7 daysā€”if you go to the Campbell location. Thatā€™s because they use a different device with Signature Lasers. However, at our location, we use a proprietary device, which has been deemed unsafe for treatments more frequently than every 10 days.

Additionally, even if you continue 7-day laser facials at Campbell, the 10-day rule applies to resurfacing treatments for everyone. If you have further questions, I suggest reaching out to the Campbell location. Have a great day! Bye-bye."*

TLDR: Skin Laundry has aggressively expanded in recent years, acquiring most early customers with the $250 Founder Membership, which explicitly state the membership can be used in ANY Skin Laundry location. And for anyone who does science, you know how bogus their 'scientific' claims are. Now, theyā€™re blatantly violating their own contracts and admitting it. This company deserves a class-action lawsuit. If anyoneā€™s interested, DM me.

I loved the facial, the products, and the people but when problems occurred, Skin Laundry became a master blamer that itā€™s always YOUR problem and never theirs.

I did my power duo facial in late Nov and booked another one in late Dec before heading home for the holidays. Within a week, I was contacted to change my facial time to on/after 12/23 to meet the 28d downtime requirement. By that time, I would have already been out of state, where Skin Laundry doesnā€™t have a boutique. Hence, I first canceled my membership because I didnā€™t want to pay $25 to freeze my account (seriously why? I havenā€™t seen any other service that asks for money to simply pause service). But soon after, I realized that Iā€™ve already paid for the Dec membership since the billing cycle started in Nov, so I contacted the shop. Iā€™ve always wanted to continue the service and only canceled my membership for convenience, so I asked if I could use my paid membership on any other service or even use the money to buy products (which I was told yes when I first signed on). They rejected every single possibility and said ā€œyou should have known when you booked your Nov facial if youā€™re home for Christmasā€.

Instead of saying ā€œitā€™s YOUR problemā€, they could have done so much:
1. offer holiday considerations and take customersā€™ out-of-state travels into account
2. allow customers to use their membership for products, which not only do so many facial boutiques offer but was also something that the shop marketed when I first signed on. You canā€™t change a policy without informing customers, quoting the reason of ā€œchange of managementā€. This would constitute illegal false advertising
3. remind customers in Nov for holiday considerations
4. simply waive Dec membership fee if customers canā€™t get facial done in time to keep customers engaged.

As a customer, I have a long runway of money to give and I simply wanted to get my moneyā€™s worth. However, the managementā€™s myopia made me doubt whether I should have given them any money at all. By that point, I just wanted my money back, as Iā€™ve paid for my Dec membership.

So this is a warning for everyone who loves and hates Skin Laundry: take care of your money before any problem becomes ā€œyoursā€.

Very ignorant front desk. No place yo watch hands or properly remove makeups. Machine is not stable. At the same setting, one machine generated pulses that were super hot. The nurse needed to switch room to use another machine. When I called to cancel my membership, it was not canceled. Need to call again to finally successfully cancel it.

But most importantly, the treatment absolutely had no effect on my skin.

Complete waste of money! After 4 months of suggested treatment my skin has seen no improvement in fact the technician who reviewed my skin verified that my skin is in worst state than it was before the treatment!!! When I tried talking to the manager ā€œCrystalā€œ to see how we can resolve my concerns she was rude and blunt. She said we make no promises and nothing can be done. I have never met anyone as ill mannered like Crystal. She does not belong in the customer service business.

Wow, just received my signature facial, and I'm glowing...literally! Give them a try, wish I would have found them sooner. My melasma is getting light each visit, and let me tell you, I have one of the most stubborn patches on both cheeks. I have tried all the products, Musely, dermo recommended and non have pleased me more than skin laundry. Of course, due diligence is recommended for anyone trying something new.
